Arielle Jacobs, a first-generation Filipino-American actress, was last seen on Broadway starring as Princess Jasmine in the smash-hit Broadway musical Disney’s Aladdin, and most recently starred as Delilah McPhee in the original Off-Broadway musical Between The Lines based on the book by NY Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult. Known for her “songbird-like ability,” Ms. Jacobs made her Broadway debut starring opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda, playing Nina Rosario in the final Broadway cast of his four-time Tony Award® and Grammy Award® winning musical In The Heights.

Arielle Jacobs joins The Art of Kindness with Robert Peterpaul to discuss approaching her new Broadway show "Here Lies Love" with empathy, acts of kindness on Broadway and much more.

Arielle Jacobs has been lighting up the stage since she studied ballet at the age of three. She went on to star in Broadway blockbusters, playing Princess Jasmine in Disney’s “Aladdin”, Nessarose in “Wicked”, and Nina Rosario in “In the Heights” alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda. More recently she dazzled Off-Broadway in “Between The Lines.” Now, Jacobs channels Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos in the aforementioned show "Here Lies Love." The immersive disco pop musical has transformed the Broadway Theatre into a dance club where actors perform amongst audiences.

Most importantly, when not performing, Arielle gives back: supporting her company “The Broadway Pup”, which sells punny Broadway-themed pet bandanas and donates 100% of profits to animal rescue charities.

In this episode, Lisa chats with Broadway actress Arielle Jacobs about being married 4 days before the global pandemic shut down the world and spending her honeymoon in lockdown and how that allowed her the space needed to focus on her vision of the future.

"I think that I always had a vision that I would do more than just performing. But I think now I have now it's really, really, really clear. And very close on the horizon."

Arielle shares how being called "sweet" or told that she "sounds like a twelve-year-old" when she speaks in her normal voice affects her confidence,  and how having been afflicted by Bell's Palsy helped to clarify the true meaning of beauty & expression.

You'll learn about Arielle's important life lesson from Wicked castmate Fred Applegate, the exciting new musical she's starring in and so much more!
She has been called “one of the greatest theatre artists of our generation” with “a powerful voice who could sing her way to world peace.”
